What Questions to Ask Yourself when Decluttering Before Moving?

Whenever you are trying to decide whether or not you want to move an item or get rid of it, it can often be a difficult choice. Following are some questions you can ask yourself as you are going through some of the items that you haven’t looked at for years.
– Where Will it Go in the New House? As you look at an item, ask yourself if there is a place for it in the new house. If the answer is no, then the solution is easy; get rid of it. If you can clearly picture where you want to put that object, it’s a keeper.
– Does It Fit in Your New House? Any time you are moving into a new house, there are going to be differences when compared to where you currently live. Make sure the items in your current house will be able to easily fit in the new one before you move them.
– Have You Used it in the Last Year? If you have not used the item in the last year, you should be able to part ways with it and not think twice about it. This is often the case for items in the kitchen.
– Is the Item Damaged? The last thing that you want to do is move a bunch of damaged items into your new house. If they have significant damage or are in need of costly repair, you more than likely don’t need them anymore.
– Do You Have More Than One? Another thing you want to avoid doing is taking multiples of one item. If you have any duplicates, you more than likely don’t need them.
